University of North Dakota Department of Physician Assistant Studies
About
The University of North Dakota Department of Physician Assistant Studies was established in 1970 in Grand Fork, North Dakota. The program’s mission is to “to prepare selected students to become competent physician assistants working collaboratively with physicians, emphasizing primary care in rural and/or underserved communities.” The University of North Dakota Department of Physician Assistant Studies educates driven and accomplished health care professionals through their curriculum. As of 2020, the program celebrated its 50 year anniversary with over 2000 graduates employed throughout the United States, Canada, and overseas.
The Challenge
In 2012, the University of North Dakota Department of Physician Assistants got in touch with AllofE Solutions looking for a secure and comprehensive testing platform that could generate performance reports. AllofE was able to implement the examN application module as a solution..
The Solution: Implementing eValuate3
Later on in their partnership, the University of North Dakota Department customized the examN application module in eMedley to fit its specific needs.
examN offers secure, offline and online testing for health sciences programs. When implemented, the University of North Dakota Department of Physician Assistants was looking for specific exam management and administrative features. These customizable features were included to fit the program’s individualistic needs:
- Assignment Management
- Assessment Configuration
- Question Bank Management
- Question Types
- Question Alignment
- Online Testing
- Bubble Sheet processing
- Automatic Grading
- Exam Performance Reports
The program was able to create and save questions through the question banks interface and use them on current and future exams. Exams were able to be created with a large selection of question types, and even be aligned to standards to track student performance.
Other features the examN implementation included were automatic grading and exam performance reports. Both automatic grading and performance reports saved the program an immense amount of time. The automatic grading feature provided the program with reliable and accurate grading. Alongside the automatic grading feature, reports could be generated to give detailed insight into how the students were performing.
Customizing the Solution
The University of North Dakota Department of Physician Assistant Studies worked closely with AllofE to implement custom features for examN:
- Selection of multiple questions at a time to move from a question bank to an exam saving the administrator time
- Set up recording of test reviews with an automated proctoring button to monitor test review sessions
- Provided the ability to start an exam up to 10 minutes late, but still have the full allotted time
- Default automatic proctoring button when assigning exams
Results
As the University of North Dakota Department of Physician Assistants continues to educate outstanding health care professionals, AllofE looks forward to the continued partnership to support their educational needs with eMedley.
